Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council is offering a temporary 12-month training and employment programme within Children & Families, aimed at supporting the Independent Care Review Keeping the Promise. The role involves peer mentoring for children and young people, working with the Youth Guarantee Programme to improve outcomes.

As an Assistant Support Worker you will work with the CLD and Education & Families teams, require PVG clearance, and bring experience with vulnerable young people, plus a relevant

Qualifications

• Must have SVQ 1 / Standard Grades or equivalent or accredited training for learning programme.
• Experience of working or volunteering with vulnerable children and young people and their families/carers.
• Lived experience of youth justice and/or care.
• PVG Scheme membership required before starting.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer mentoring to children and young people not met by universal services.
• Support engagement with community supports to promote positive destinations.
• Work within the Children & Families Team in Education and Families.
• Build positive relationships with children, young people and families.
