Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a permanent full-time Youth Mentor to work across Preston & South Ribble. 37 hours per week. You will mentor young people aged 11–19 (up to 25 with vulnerabilities), building trusted relationships and delivering early intervention programmes.

Applicants should have a JNC qualification or be working towards it, with a willingness to travel across districts. The role forms part of the Targeted Youth Support team within the Children and Family Wellbeing Service.

Qualifications

• Experience in youth work with young people aged 11–19 (or up to 25 for vulnerabilities).
• Ability to build trusted relationships and provide targeted support.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Provide one-to-one mentoring and group support sessions.
• Deliver preventative and early intervention programmes.
• Support personal, social and emotional development.
• Encourage engagement in education, training and employment.
• Record progress and evidencing outcomes.
• Collaborate with families, schools and partner agencies.
