Job summary

British Red Cross is seeking a Senior Youth Worker for SafeMates Scotland in Dundee. The hybrid role involves leading trauma‑informed youth peer support initiatives, coordinating events across Scotland and delivering high‑quality training to volunteers.

The successful candidate will manage safeguarding, risk assessments and wellbeing support while building partnerships and promoting community involvement. This fixed term contract supports a nationwideCashBack funded programme.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing youth programmes, including remote and in-person delivery, evaluation and reporting.
  • Experience working with volunteers and young people in community, education, or outreach settings.
  • Highly organised with ability to juggle multiple priorities and workstreams.
  • Collaborates with partners and stakeholders to coordinate events and activities.
  • Proactive, solution-focused and able to respond calmly in crisis situations.
  • Comfortable using multiple IT systems and digital tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage high‑quality SafeMates training, volunteer initiatives, community activities and major events.
  • Lead risk assessments, safeguarding practices and wellbeing support for participants and volunteers.
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and coaching to Red Cross Youth volunteers.
  • Build local partnerships, drive communications and gather youth insights.
