Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is recruiting a Band 7 Clinical Ward Manager to join the Paediatric Critical Care (PCC) team at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. You will provide visible leadership across a busy clinical service, supporting staff to maintain high standards of care and patient experience.

The post holder will oversee care in PICU and PHDU, deputise for senior nursing leads, support audit and teaching, and drive service improvement in line with MFT values.

Qualifications

• Registered NMC Nurse RN/RNC
• Qualified to function as Assessor for pre registration students
• Educated to degree level
• APLS
• Relevant expertise, knowledge and experience with evidence of Critical Care for paediatrics
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Experience of change management
• Relevant knowledge of patient safety agenda
• Ability to lead a team calmly under pressure

Responsibilities

• Provide immediate care to critically ill children and their families within PICU/PHDU and NWTS
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, guiding junior staff
• Support senior nurse leaders to maintain high standards of care
• Act as a role model and deputise for senior nursing staff in emergencies
• Contribute to audit, teaching and service improvement within PCC
