Job Title: PE and Outdoor Education Teacher

Salary: Up to GBP45,000 per annum

Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire, RG20 8HZ

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm, including 1x 5pm finish

Due to growth in our service, we are recruiting a PE and Outdoor Education Teacher to join our team at New Barn School in Newbury!

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PE and Outdoor Education Teacher to join our supportive school community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physical education and experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Responsibilities include delivering tailored PE lessons, promoting physical activity, and supporting inclusive education for students with SEN in the primary setting.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess PE lessons for individual students or small groups, aligned with the School's Curriculum framework and policies.
  • Monitor, record, and report on student progress.
  • Contribute to and help implement the School Development Plan.
  • Promote the physical, educational, and moral development of students in line with school policies.
  • Develop and implement learning environments and programmes tailored to individual student needs.
  • Coordinate teaching, assessment, and reporting across key stages as agreed with the Headteacher.
  • Create, review, and update individual education and behaviour plans in collaboration with staff.
  • Organise classroom resources, student groupings, and displays to foster a stimulating learning environment.
  • Ensure student safety during on and off-site activities, following risk assessments.
  • Brief and support Learning Support Assistants, Tutors, Instructors, and care staff to produce effective teaching aids.
