Job Details
  • Job Title: PE and Outdoor Education Teacher
  • Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
  • Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire, RG20 8HZ
  • Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
  • Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm, including 1x 5pm finish

Due to growth, we are recruiting a PE and Outdoor Education Teacher for our team at New Barn School, Newbury.

Role Overview

We seek a dedicated and compassionate PE and Outdoor Education Teacher to join our supportive school community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physical education and experience with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Responsibilities include delivering tailored PE lessons, promoting physical activity, and supporting inclusive education for students with SEN in the primary setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, and assess lessons for individuals and small groups, aligned with the School’s Curriculum and policies.
  • Monitor, record, and report on student progress.
  • Contribute to the School Development Plan initiatives.
  • Promote students' physical, educational, and moral development.
  • Develop and implement individual education and behavior plans.
  • Organize classroom resources and student groupings for effective learning.
  • Ensure student safety on and off-site, in line with risk assessments.
  • Brief and coordinate with Learning Support Staff to facilitate effective teaching aids and resources.
About the School

New Barn School offers a balanced curriculum for students aged 6–19 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. The school utilizes outdoor learning, including forest school, farm experiences, and horse riding. Located within commuting distance of Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke, and Reading, it fosters a supportive environment where students can develop skills and confidence.
