Job Title: PE and Outdoor Education Teacher

Salary: Up to GBP45,000 per annum

Location: New Barn School, Newbury, Berkshire, RG20 8HZ

Contract: Permanent Term Time Only

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm including 1x 5pm finish

Due to growth in our service, we are recruiting for a PE and Outdoor Education Teacher to join our team at New Barn School in Newbury.

Job Overview

We seek a dedicated PE and Outdoor Education Teacher to join our supportive school community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physical education and experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Responsibilities include delivering tailored PE lessons, promoting physical activity, and supporting inclusive education for students with SEN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess PE lessons for individual students or small groups, aligned with the School's Curriculum framework.
  • Monitor, record, and report on student progress.
  • Contribute to the School Development Plan initiatives.
  • Promote students' physical, educational, and moral development.
  • Develop and implement learning environments and programs tailored to individual student needs.
  • Coordinate teaching, assessment, and reporting across key stages as directed by the Headteacher.
  • Create, review, and update individual education and behavior plans in collaboration with staff.
  • Organize classroom resources and displays to foster engaging learning environments.
  • Ensure student safety through proper planning and risk assessments, both on and off-site.
  • Brief and support Learning Support Assistants, Tutors, Instructors, and care staff as needed.

New Barn School provides a broad curriculum for students aged 6-19 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. The school leverages outdoor learning, including forest school, farm activities, and horse riding, within a beautiful setting. Located conveniently near Swindon, Oxford, Andover, Basingstoke, and Reading.
