Job Title: PE and Outdoor Education Teacher

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent Term Time Only

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm including 1x 5pm finish

Due to growth in our service, we are recruiting for a PE and Outdoor Education Teacher to join our team at New Barn School, located in Newbury!

Job Overview

We seek a dedicated and compassionate PE and Outdoor Education Teacher to join our school community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physical education and experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Responsibilities include providing tailored PE lessons, promoting physical activity, and supporting inclusion of students with SEN in the primary setting.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess lessons for individual students or small groups according to the school’s curriculum and policies
  • Monitor, record, and report student progress
  • Contribute to school development initiatives
  • Promote the physical, educational, and moral development of students
  • Develop and implement learning environments and programs tailored to individual needs
  • Coordinate teaching, assessment, and reporting across key stages as agreed with the Headteacher
  • Create, review, and update individual education and behavior plans in collaboration with staff
  • Organize classroom resources and displays to create engaging learning environments
  • Ensure student safety on and off-site, following risk assessments
  • Brief and support Learning Support Assistants, Tutors, Instructors, and care staff as needed

The school leverages its outdoor setting for activities like forest school, farm experiences, and horse riding.
