Job summary

Specialist Passenger Solutions (SPS) is hiring a bus and heavy-vehicle technician to perform MOT preparation, inspections, diagnostics and repairs across diverse PCV fleets. You will work within a safety-focused, 24/7 workshop environment, contributing to reliable transport for Site Sizewell C and other operators.

Required are an NVQ Level 3/C&G in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and 2+ years post-training experience, plus strong technical judgement and a proactive attitude to deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ Level 3 or C&G in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (PCV preferred).
• At least two years post-training experience in heavy vehicle engineering, preferably PCV.
• Ability to apply high standards of technical judgement.
• Pragmatic, proactive attitude to short-notice workshop deadlines.
• Flexible working hours as we aim to be 24/7.

Responsibilities

• MOT preparation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, diagnostic and repair of a varied PCV fleet.
• Maintain understanding of vehicle inspection standards and compliance requirements.
• Promote good relations between engineering and operations to achieve objectives.
• Monitor parts usage and stock control.
• Ensure peak vehicle availability in line with demand.

Specialist Passenger Solutions provides essential bus services transporting thousands of workers to and from Sizewell C. By joining our technician team, you will work across a variety of vehicle types, including electric, hydrogen and diesel vehicles, using cutting-edge diagnostic technology.

You will play a key role in ensuring vehicles meet our safety and performance standards, enabling us to deliver outstanding service for our customers every day.

Summary of key duties & responsibilities:

• To be part of a team providing MOT preparation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, diagnostic and repair services to a varied PCV fleet
• To maintain a clear understanding of vehicle inspection standards and compliance requirements
• To be part of the process of promoting and ensuring a good working relationship between the engineering and operations departments, essential to achieving our shared objectives.
• To follow all procedures to control and monitor parts usage and stock control.
• As part of the engineering team, to be consistently proactive in ensuring that peak vehicle requirement is achieved.

Essential for the role:

• Minimum NVQ Level 3 or C&G equivalent or above in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (PCV preferred)
• At least two years relevant, recent, and demonstrable post training experience in heavy vehicle engineering, preferably PCV
• The ability to apply consistently high standards of technical judgement
• A pragmatic and proactive, can-do attitude to short notice workshop deadlines
• A flexible approach to working hours as we work towards becoming a 24/7 business
• Possession of a full driving licence (category D desirable)

Desirable for the role:

• PCV Electrical system aptitude and experience in the bus industry
• Good electrical and diagnostic ability
• Possession of IRTEC licence (Inspection / Service Maintenance Technician)
• Knowledge of the transport sector
