Specialist Passenger Solutions Limited in Ipswich is seeking a skilled Bus/PCV Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team supporting the EDF Nuclear Project and Sizewell C transport operations. You will perform MOT preparation, inspections, maintenance and diagnostics on a varied PCV fleet to keep services safe and on schedule.

The role requires at least two years' post-training experience in heavy vehicle engineering, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and a flexible, proactive approach to

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or C&G in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or above.
• At least two years' post-training experience in heavy vehicle engineering (PCV preferred).
• Full driving licence (category D desirable).
• IRTEC licence and PCV knowledge desirable.

Responsibilities

• MOT preparation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, diagnostic and repair services to a PCV fleet.
• Maintain understanding of vehicle inspection standards and compliance requirements.
• Promote and ensure good working relationship between engineering and operations to achieve shared objectives.
• Follow procedures to control and monitor parts usage and stock control.
• Be proactive to ensure peak vehicle requirements are met by the engineering team.

Summary of key duties & responsibilities

• To be part of a team providing MOT preparation, vehicle inspection, maintenance, diagnostic and repair services to a varied PCV fleet
• To maintain a clear understanding of vehicle inspection standards and compliance requirements
• To be part of the process of promoting and ensuring a good working relationship between the engineering and operations departments, essential to achieving our shared objectives.
• To follow all procedures to control and monitor parts usage and stock control.
• As part of the engineering team, to be consistently proactive in ensuring that peak vehicle requirement is achieved.

Essential for the role

• Minimum NVQ Level 3 or C&G equivalent or above in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (PCV preferred)
• At least two years relevant, recent, and demonstrable post training experience in heavy vehicle engineering, preferably PCV
• The ability to apply consistently high standards of technical judgement
• A pragmatic and proactive, can-do attitude to short notice workshop deadlines
• A flexible approach to working hours as we work towards becoming a 24/7 business
• Possession of a full driving licence (category D desirable)

Desirable for the role

• PCV Electrical system aptitude and experience in the bus industry
• Good electrical and diagnostic ability
• Possession of IRTEC licence (Inspection / Service Maintenance Technician)
• Knowledge of the transport sector
