Job summary

Impact Recruitment Services is recruiting on behalf of a modern accountancy practice in Northamptonshire for a Payroll Assistant. This role is office based in Pitsford and offers a salary between £26,000 and £35,000 (doe) with quarterly bonus.

You will process payrolls for multiple clients, manage end-to-end payroll tasks, handle starters, leavers, tax codes and RTI, submit FPS/EPS to HMRC, and support pension auto-enrolment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 5 years payroll experience.
• Experience managing multiple client payrolls simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of PAYE, RTI, NIC and statutory payments.
• Proficient with BrightPay, Sage or Xero Payroll.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
• Professional and confident communication with clients.
• Discretion and professionalism handling confidential information.
• Collaborative, client-focused team player.

Responsibilities

• Process payrolls for multiple clients (weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly).
• Manage end-to-end payrolls with complete accuracy.
• Handle starters, leavers, overtime, bonuses and deductions.
• Process statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and ShPP.
• Produce payslips, payroll reports and payment summaries.
• Submit FPS and EPS returns to HMRC.
• Oversee pension auto-enrolment duties and contributions uploads.
• Process tax code changes, student loans and attachment of earnings orders.
• Prepare year-end payroll documentation including P45s and P60s.
• Act as a main contact for payroll-related client queries.
