Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited is supporting a leading manufacturing business by appointing an experienced Payroll Specialist to own weekly and monthly payrolls for circa 3,000 employees in a fast-paced, complex environment.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will manage end-to-end payroll, input starters/leavers/changes, handle RTI submissions and year-end tasks while ensuring accuracy, compliance and exceptional service delivery to employees and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in high-volume payroll environments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Confident communicator across all levels of the business.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of weekly payroll cycles is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end payroll for weekly and monthly cycles.
  • Accurate input and validation of starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences and statutory payments.
  • Managing high-volume data uploads and reconciliations.
  • Processing statutory deductions, RTI submissions and year-end tasks.
  • Responding to employee payroll queries with professionalism and clarity.
  • Supporting audits, reporting and compliance checks.
  • Contributing to process improvements and system optimisation.
  • Working collaboratively with HR, Finance and operational teams across the manufacturing sites.

Portfolio Payroll are proud to be supporting a leading manufacturing business as they look to appoint an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their high‑performing payroll function. Reporting directly into the Payroll Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of both weekly and monthly payrolls for a workforce of circa 3,000 employees, within a fast‑paced, complex environment.

The Role

As a key member of the payroll team, you will support the end‑to‑end processing of high‑volume payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance and exceptional service delivery to employees and internal stakeholders. You'll work closely with the Payroll Manager to maintain smooth operations, contribute to continuous improvement, and uphold best practice across all payroll activities.
