The successful candidate will oversee payroll for 1000 employees, ensuring compliance with legislation and managing various payroll-related projects. Hays are delighted to be working with a local voluntary organisation who continue to make a lasting difference to those who need it most. This role for a Payroll Manager to cover a maternity leave.
Your new role
Reporting to the Group Financial controller you will manage the outsourced payroll contract. You will be responsible for managing the outsourced payroll contract of 1000 weekly and monthly staff for the group consisting of 3 companies.
You will have up to date knowledge of payroll legislation and be able to assist the wider finance team on all payroll related matters.
You will be the key point of contact dealing with the payroll provider and will work to drive improvement in the payroll processing and reporting.
You will manage all payroll related services internally and ensure that there are effective payroll controls and that the policies and procedures are in place and operating well.
You will be responsible for all aspects of payroll related financial control and this will include month end reconciliations, you will produce payroll reports and work on any other payroll related projects as and when they arise. You will keep up to date with any legislative changes relating to payroll and liaise with external agencies including pension providers, auditors and HMRC.
What you'll need to succeed
•Educated to GCSE
•Educated with 2 A levels or 5 year's payroll experience
•Minimum 2 years' experience working in a large complex payroll function and experience with computerised payroll systems
•Working knowledge of UK PAYE
•Proficient with MS Office
•CIPP qualification would be an advantage
•SAGE payroll qualification would be beneficial a well as SAGE 50 payroll experience
