Job summary

ICAEW is seeking a Payroll Administrator in Blackburn to join a friendly payroll bureau. You will manage end-to-end payrolls across multiple clients and ensure compliance with current legislation.

Role covers weekly to monthly payrolls, RTI submissions, pensions, and client queries. Office-based with hybrid options after probation, in a supportive environment focused on learning and progression.

Qualifications

  • Previous end-to-end payroll experience.
  • Experience in a payroll bureau or accountancy practice is advantageous.
  • Experience managing multiple payrolls is beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client communications.

Responsibilities

  • Processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Managing end-to-end payroll for multiple client accounts.
  • Calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP.
  • Processing new starters, leavers and employee changes.
  • Submitting RTI reports to HMRC.
  • Managing pension contributions and auto-enrolment duties.
  • Resolving payroll queries from clients and employees.
  • Ensuring payroll records are maintained accurately and confidentially.
  • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Supporting the wider team with payroll administration and client service activities.

The role is office‑based initially, with hybrid working available upon successful completion of probation.

Your new role

As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for managing end‑to‑end payroll processes for a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors. You will work closely with clients and colleagues to ensure payrolls are processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with current legislation.
