Job summary

Equals is seeking a Solutions Engineer to lead technical discovery and design for prospects in the payments ecosystem. You will collaborate with Platform Sales and Partnerships to tailor solutions, run demos, and respond to RFPs, ensuring a smooth handover to implementation with comprehensive documentation.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in SaaS or API-first roles, strong REST API and integration experience, and comfort with Postman and cURL.

Qualifications

• Three or more years as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer or technical consultant in a SaaS or API-first business.
• Knowledge of payments, card issuing, banking-as-a-service or embedded finance is a strong advantage.
• Strong on REST APIs, webhooks and integration patterns, confident with Postman, cURL and API specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery with prospects: their systems, their customers, their flow of funds, and their integration or white-label requirements.
• Design the solution across accounts, payments, FX and card issuing, and document it clearly: architecture, flows, responsibilities and risks.
• Write the Statement of Work: deliverables, scope, assumptions and dependencies, so what is signed is what we can deliver.
• Qualify opportunities on product fit with the seller, and flag early where a deal needs Product, Compliance or Engineering input.
• Run demos, API walkthroughs and sandbox sessions for prospects’ technical and product teams.
• Provide the technical content for RFPs, RFIs and due diligence questionnaires.
• Hand over to Implementation and Technical Account Management with complete documentation.
• Capture product gaps and requests from the field and feed them to Product with the commercial context.
• Improve the team’s demo environments, templates and technical sales material.
• Win rate on deals you support.
