Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Basildon Hospital is seeking a Patient Services Assistant to support patient meals, maintain hygiene standards and assist the warm, compassionate patient experience. The role involves meal distribution, after-meal cleaning, and stock management within a caring hospital setting.

You will join the Patient Services team with on-the-job training, and you’ll have the opportunity to complete your Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.

Qualifications

• Good general education and basic literacy/numeracy.
• Willingness to obtain Level 2 Food Hygiene certification.
• Able to work effectively both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Distribute meals and drinks to patients, including water jugs, while maintaining hygiene.
• Provide after-meal cleaning, washing-up and operate a steriliser as required.
• Manage stock rotation and control as part of daily duties.

Main duties of the job

If you are successful, your day-to-day duties will include:

• The distribution of meals and drinks including water jugs, cooking of meals always maintaining hygiene standards.
• The after-meal cleaning service, washing-up and using steriliser.
• Stock rotation and control.
• Working towards and completing your level 2 food hygiene certificate.
