Job description

IDEXX Laboratories is seeking a Pathology Operations Coordinator to support our UK & European Pathology departments. This role involves supplying the pathology team with digital images for diagnostic purposes, generated from all UK & European laboratories, and maximizing the efficiency of the team. The coordinator will assist in resolving problems and handling queries from pathology teams to ensure smooth workflow throughout the day. The primary responsibility is to ensure accuracy and timely assignment of work, supporting the busy Pathology Operations team.

In this Role:

  1. Load digital scanners for work distribution to the Pathology team and manage the filing of slides returned from offsite pathologists.
  2. Assist with the archiving system of slides.
  3. Promptly handle client queries and communicate effectively with Pathologists and laboratory staff.
  4. Manage packing and shipping of cytology samples to off-site Pathologists, and maintain cleanliness of the scanner room and scanners.
  5. Contribute to metrics and log caseloads.
  6. Monitor query lists for the pathology team and resolve complex queries.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  1. Experience managing a high workload and dealing with internal and external customers, with troubleshooting skills.
  2. Educational background to GCSE level or equivalent; a science or laboratory background is preferred but not essential.
  3. Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
  4. Excellent communication skills and multitasking ability.
  5. Capability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
  6. Confidence, organization, methodical approach, and good attention to detail.

Schedule:

  1. Monday to Friday, shifts from 8am-4.30pm or 9am-5.30pm, with occasional evening shifts for cover.
  2. Participation in a Saturday shift, not more than 1 in 5 weeks.
  3. Dependable attendance is essential.
