Job summary

Kedleston Group Ltd, Oakbridge School in Handsworth, Birmingham, is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join our team. This term-time role provides pastoral, emotional and behavioural support to pupils, helping them engage with school life and achieve their full potential.

You will deliver learning activities, support lesson delivery and promote wellbeing and attendance, working closely with families.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs (English and maths) or equivalent.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
  • Experience working with children and SEND in education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral, emotional and academic support to pupils, helping them engage with learning and achieve their potential.
  • Deliver learning activities and lessons to individuals, small groups and whole classes under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Promote pupil wellbeing, positive behaviour and attendance, working closely with families and carers to support pupil progress.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, resource development, assessment, administration and wider school activities, including educational visits and parents' evenings.

We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Pastoral Support Worker to join our team and provide pastoral, emotional and behavioural support to pupils, helping them to engage positively with school life and achieve their full potential.

What you’ll be doing as a Pastoral Support Worker:

Established in 2018, Oakbridge School is an independent special day school in Birmingham with a specially designed learning environment created to meet the needs of autistic children. In November 2025, Oakbridge School moved into its newly developed site in Handsworth Wood, further enhancing our specialist facilities and educational provision. We provide a calm, low arousal, safe, positive and nurturing place where young people can learn and grow.
