Ready to make a real difference?
Want to be part of building something extraordinary from the ground up?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Behaviour and Pastoral Support Worker to join our brand new, purpose-built primary provision at Elderbrook School.

Starting in Summer Term 2027, this is a unique chance to be part of something special from the very beginning.

At Elderbrook School, every child is seen, heard, and valued, and we are looking for a passionate, dedicated Senior Behaviour and Pastoral Support Worker who shares our commitment to helping children thrive both academically and personally.

This role is non-class-based, with a primary focus on pastoral care, behaviour, and pupil engagement across the school rather than direct curriculum delivery.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Lead on supporting pupil engagement, behaviour, and wellbeing, particularly for those at risk of disengagement.
  • Respond to behavioural incidents, using restorative approaches and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to support trust, inclusion, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Identify pupils needing additional pastoral support and coordinate targeted interventions.
  • Plan and deliver individual and small-group strategies to address barriers such as behaviour, attendance, and emotional needs.
  • Monitor, track, and analyse pupil engagement and behaviour data to inform support and whole-school approaches.
  • Promote consistent behaviour standards and support pupils during unstructured times to reduce incidents.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies to provide coordinated support and improve pupil outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records, contribute to pastoral planning, and evaluate the impact of interventions.
  • Safeguard pupils at all times, providing immediate support when needed and adhering to all safeguarding policies.
What we’re looking for:
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Relevant training in behaviour, pastoral care, safeguarding or SEMH (desirable)
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or educational setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and/or additional needs (e.g. SEND, behavioural or attendance challenges)
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies, including restorative and de-escalation approaches
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong listening and interpersonal skills, with a calm and empathetic approach
  • Competent in the use of IT systems for recording, communication and monitoring
Why work for us?
  • Supportive and friendly school community
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • A rewarding role where you’ll make a real impact!

We value your hard work and dedication, and we’re committed to ensuring you feel supported, both professionally and personally so that you are in the best position to make the most impact for the children in our care.

When you join Kedleston Group, you can be certain that your work will have purpose and meaning. You can also expect a supportive environment which enables you to excel in your role and grow in your career.
