Job summary

Silverways School, part of Kedleston Group, is seeking a Behaviour & Pastoral Lead to support pupils, families and staff. The role focuses on promoting positive behaviour, improving attendance and wellbeing while coordinating safeguarding and pastoral activities.

You will work with external professionals, lead on individual support plans and mentor the pastoral team to ensure consistent practices across the school.

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, feel supported and achieve their potential? We're looking for an enthusiastic and committed Behaviour & Pastoral Lead to join our school and play a key role in supporting our pupils, families and staff.

This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who can build strong relationships with young people while providing the structure, consistency and support they need to succeed. You'll work closely with colleagues, families and external professionals to promote positive behaviour, improve attendance and engagement, and support pupil wellbeing.

What you'll be doing:

As our Behaviour & Pastoral Lead, you'll:

• Support pupils to develop positive behaviour, attendance and engagement.


• Work closely with families and other professionals to put effective support in place.


• Help pupils develop positive wellbeing and mental health.


• Provide guidance and support to colleagues to ensure consistent approaches across the school.


• Support the development and review of individual support plans, risk assessments and interventions.


• Use behaviour, attendance and other relevant data to help identify where additional support or intervention is needed.


• Support safeguarding across the school as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.


• Line manage members of the pastoral team.


• Help lead pupil voice and leadership opportunities through the Junior Leadership Team.


• Oversee pupil mentoring opportunities and support the school's programme of assemblies and enrichment activities.

About you

We're looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.

You'll have experience of supporting vulnerable pupils and implementing effective support strategies, alongside strong behaviour management, communication and organisational skills. Experience of managing colleagues or influencing practice to improve outcomes for pupils is also important.

You'll understand the importance of safeguarding and SEND and have an awareness of how trauma and neurodiversity can affect a young person’s needs, behaviour and engagement.

Silverways School is an independent special school which supports children and young people with autism and associated learning needs. The school is set in the heart of the community in Enfield, North London.

Silverways School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
