Job summary

The Pastoral Support Officer at Ashfield Comprehensive School works under a designated Head of Year and attendance officers for one year group. Responsibilities

• Support Head of Year on pastoral matters including behaviour, safeguarding and parental engagement.
• Support attendance team with attendance issues in the year group, including making calls and follow‑ups.
• Provide daily pastoral support in the year group, including uniform checks, lesson drop-ins and interventions.
• Support behaviour in the year group, including collecting statements from students and staff.
• Build relationships with families and external agencies through meetings.
• Cover scheduled duties before school, during breaks and lunch, plus additional duties in the pastoral base.
• Provide after‑school corrections support and on‑call site coverage.
• Work to a structured timetable with designated tasks to help students overcome barriers to learning.
