Job summary

New Road Academy in Shrewsbury seeks an experienced Pastoral Manager to support students who need extra help to engage with learning, promoting behaviour, attendance and wellbeing to create a safe, inclusive and ambitious environment. This role focuses on safeguarding and raising aspirations.

As a visible presence across the academy, you will work with students, parents, staff and external agencies to provide targeted pastoral support, mentoring and restorative approaches, and coordinate

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with additional needs.
• Strong communication with parents and carers.
• Ability to mentor individuals and small groups.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and welfare.
• Capable of promoting positive behaviour and engagement.

Responsibilities

• Implement academy behaviour systems and supervise social times.
• Investigate incidents and coordinate sanctions as needed.
• Support students returning after exclusion and provide pastoral mentoring.
• Contribute to anti-bullying initiatives and a culture of high expectations.
• Collaborate with parents, staff and external agencies to support pupils.
