Job summary

Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form, part of Bridge Academy Trust, is seeking a proactive Pastoral Manager to lead student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and engagement.

You will work with Raising Standards Leaders to deliver targeted interventions, coordinate with external agencies, and uphold safeguarding to ensure all students feel safe, supported and empowered to succeed.

Qualifications

• Experience in pastoral or youth work within an educational setting.
• Strong emotional intelligence and professional confidence with vulnerable students.
• Ability to lead structured interventions around behaviour and mental wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visible, approachable presence promoting high behaviour standards.
• Build supportive relationships with students and families.
• Monitor and improve attendance, including first-day calls and home visits.
• Deliver or coordinate interventions for emotional/behavioural needs (anger, anxiety).
• Coordinate with external agencies and lead multi-agency meetings.
• Uphold safeguarding procedures and support vulnerable learners.

About the role:

Notley High School is seeking to appoint an outstanding Pastoral Manager to join our committed and caring pastoral team. This is a key role in our school, responsible for ensuring high standards of student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and engagement. You will work closely with our Raising Standards Leaders and other key staff to ensure all students feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Acting as a highly visible and approachable presence around school, promoting high standards of behaviour and conduct


• Building strong, supportive relationships with students and their families


• Monitoring and improving attendance, including first-day calls and regular home visits


• Delivering or coordinating targeted interventions to support students with emotional and behavioural needs (e.g. anger management, anxiety support)


• Working closely with external agencies and leading on multi-agency meetings (e.g. Early Help, TAF)


• Upholding safeguarding procedures and supporting vulnerable learners

We are looking for someone who:

• Is experienced in pastoral or youth work, particularly in an educational setting
