Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a well-organised Ward Clerk to join Ward G5 on the Transplant Unit. The role supports a 28-bed transplant ward and a 5-bed high dependency area, handling patient reception, telephone messages, and multi-disciplinary communications.

You will maintain Epic System and deliver efficient administrative services, with a strong emphasis on privacy and patient care. Part-time position across Monday, Thursday and Friday.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal, written, IT and customer care skills.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work well under pressure.
• Willingness to learn and work proactively on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Meet and receive patients, visitors and staff on the ward.
• Answer the telephone and relay messages accurately.
• Maintain effective communications between patients, relatives and the team.
• Liaise with the multi professional team to ensure information flows.
• Report complaints or concerns to the nurse in charge.
• Assist in ward staff orientation within the ward clerk remit.
• Uphold privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
• Keep Epic System up to date re capacity (admissions, discharges, transfers).
• Provide efficient administration support for the ward.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
