Job summary

St Augustine Academy in Maidstone is seeking a practical Facilities Assistant to join the busy site team. The role covers opening, security, repairs, cleaning, porterage and general site duties to keep the academy welcoming and well-presented for students, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will work 25 hours per week during term-time and reduced hours in holidays, with full training provided and a strong focus on safeguarding and safe environments.

Qualifications

Practical, hands-on work ethic.
Reliability and trustworthiness.
Good DIY, maintenance or caretaking skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of young people.

Responsibilities

Open and secure academy buildings.
Carry out basic repairs, decoration and maintenance tasks.
Support health and safety and compliance checks.
Set up rooms and facilities for events.
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the site.
Assist with deliveries and waste management.
Monitor heating, lighting and water systems.
Support the Site Manager with projects and improvements.
