Job summary

Lancashire County Council invites applications for a Domestic Assistant at Grove House, Adlington. You will help maintain a clean, safe, welcoming environment for residents, staff and visitors, taking pride in high standards of cleanliness and reliability.

This permanent, part-time role (17.5 hours per week) pays £13.45 per hour. Shifts are 14:00–19:00 on applicable days; training is provided, uniforms are supplied, and DBS disclosure is part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Reliable, punctual and professional.
• Awareness of health and safety and infection-control practices.
• Desirable: previous cleaning or domestic experience.
• Desirable: experience in a care or healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties across the building, including communal areas, offices, bathrooms, corridors, and resident areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and polish surfaces as required.
• Clean bathrooms and toilets to a high standard, ensuring hygiene and safety at all times.
• Replace consumables such as soap, towels, and toilet paper.
• Empty bins and manage waste disposal in line with organisational procedures.
• Follow designated cleaning schedules and maintain appropriate cleaning records.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with training.
• Report maintenance issues or concerns promptly to the management team.
• Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and residents.
