Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a dependable Domestic Assistant to help maintain a clean and welcoming environment at Meadowfield House, Preston. The role supports residents, staff and visitors with high standards of cleanliness and safety.

The position is part-time (17.5 hours weekly) with 14:00-19:00 shifts at Meadowfield House, Fulwood, Preston. Training and uniform are provided, fostering a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Reliable, punctual and professional.
• Awareness of health and safety and infection‑control practices.
• Previous cleaning or domestic experience.
• Experience in a care or healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties across the building, including communal areas, offices, bathrooms, corridors, and resident areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and polish surfaces as required.
• Clean bathrooms and toilets to a high standard, ensuring hygiene and safety at all times.
• Replace consumables such as soap, towels, and toilet paper.
• Empty bins and manage waste disposal in line with organisational procedures.
• Follow designated cleaning schedules and maintain appropriate cleaning records.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with training.
• Report maintenance issues or concerns promptly to the management team.
• Work as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and residents.
