Job summary

Royal Voluntary Service is seeking a Deputy Service Manager to oversee a network of social centres across Berwickshire, Eildon & Teviot. This 30-hour/week role offers a part-time, permanent contract with a competitive hourly rate and a clear focus on reducing isolation for older adults.

You will lead volunteers, coordinate session delivery, and ensure safety and quality in every activity. The role requires a driving licence and willingness to travel across the defined area.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required with access to own vehicle for travel across a defined geographical area.
• Experience in a person-centred care or community support setting preferred.
• Proficiency with standard IT systems, email and Microsoft Teams; ability to learn role-specific databases.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, development, motivation and day-to-day line management of volunteers.
• Connect volunteers to ensure client interventions and activities are delivered safely and effectively.
• Welcome clients and promote wellbeing through person-centred engagement and support plans; no direct care or medication duties.
• Organise activities, provide refreshments and meals, manage payments and cash handling; ensure health and safety of clients and activity sessions.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, safeguarding, data protection and financial controls; maintain relationships with local authorities, trusts and partners.
• Maintain service activity reporting, financial monitoring, and contribute to service reports and planning.
