Royal Voluntary Service is seeking a Deputy Service Manager to oversee a network of social centres across Berwickshire, Eildon & Teviot. This 30-hour/week role offers a part-time, permanent contract with a competitive hourly rate and a clear focus on reducing isolation for older adults.
You will lead volunteers, coordinate session delivery, and ensure safety and quality in every activity. The role requires a driving licence and willingness to travel across the defined area.
Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a Deputy Service Manager to join our team within the Berwickshire, Eildon and Teviot Areas. You will join us on a part‑time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £13.22 per hour (FTE £24,070 per annum).
The Berwickshire, Eildon & Teviot team provide, manage and run Social Centre's throughout the Borders towns and villages for older residents aged 65 and over to boost wellbeing. Our clients are referred by statutory health providers and local partner organisations to benefit from daytime sessions focusing on social connection, nutrition, physical activity, mental stimulation and the opportunity to try new things. Clients are welcomed and supported by our staff and volunteer teams to stay as well as they can both physically and mentally and be as independent as possible in their later years.
Our support helps to reduce the impact of isolation and loneliness and enable people to be better connected with others for their ongoing wellbeing.
Travel across, Berwickshire, Eildon and Teviot Areas (Village Hall, Burnmouth, Eyemouth, TD14 5SU; Katharine Elliot Centre, 3 Howdenbank, Hawick, TD9 7JT; Volunteer Hall, 11, LangtonGate, Duns Volunteer Hall, Duns, TD11 3AF and St Boswells Village Hall, Jenny Moor’s Road, St Boswells, TD6 0AA).
30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6 hours per day (9:00am–3:30pm). This can be offered as one 30‑hour position or split into two positions of 12 and 18 hours. The final arrangement will be confirmed at the end of the interview process.
The role of the Deputy Service Manager (DSM) is to plan and deliver the weekly client facing sessions (in agreed specific towns / villages). The DSM is to work directly with the clients, volunteers and local surrounding community -responsible for supporting the management, development and delivery of their weekly service/services. The role sits within an environment of continuous improvement and with leadership from the Service Manager, the DSM will ensure that all sessions are delivered in line with RVS vision and Core Values in order to; deliver on contractual agreements and achieve key performance targets; to ensure more people are enabled to volunteer; and to ensure strong partnerships with local statutory, voluntary and community partners are built and maintained.
