Job summary

Colchester Institute is seeking an hourly paid Counselling Service Co-ordinator at Colchester Campus to oversee day-to-day delivery of the Counselling Service. You will assess client needs, assign to appropriate student counsellors and manage bookings and placements in line with ethical frameworks.

The role is fixed-term, part-time (2 days per week, Tue/Thu 14:00–20:00, term-time 40 weeks). Experience with safeguarding, BACP guidelines and CPD commitment is essential.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in Counselling as required.
• GCSE English and Maths Level 2 (or equivalent) or higher.
• Registration with BACP and evidence of ongoing CPD.
• Commitment to safeguarding and professional ethics.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day management and coordination of the service.
• Deal with enquiries from service users and external agencies.
• Manage the online room booking system for clients and counsellors.
• Conduct and record risk assessments using counselling expertise.
• Allocate clients to the most suitable counsellor for support.
• Be available to students for administrative and pastoral support.
• Oversee allocation of student counsellors for supervision in line with BACP guidelines.
