Job summary

Colchester Institute is seeking a part-time Counselling Service Co-ordinator at Colchester Campus. The role involves day-to-day management, coordinating the service, handling enquiries and supervising room bookings for clients and counsellors.

The post requires counselling qualifications, BACP registration, safeguarding awareness and CPD evidence, with duties including risk assessment and student support in line with BACP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide day to day management and coordination of the service.
• Deal with incoming enquiries from service users and external agencies.
• Manage the online room booking system for clients/counsellors/supervision.
• Conduct and record risk assessments using counselling expertise for new and existing clients.
• Allocate clients to the most suitable counsellor for therapeutic support.
• Be available to students for administrative/pastoral support where required.
• Oversee and manage the allocation of student counsellors for supervision sessions in line with BACP guidelines.

29.6 Hours per week, spread over 5 working days.

52 weeks per year.

About the role:

• Provide day to day management and coordination of the service.

Essential Experience:

• Experience of working with clients with mental health issues.
• Knowledge and understanding of professional body regulations (BACP Ethical Framework)
• Experience of counselling in-person, video and telephone.
• An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment
• Experience in completing clinical assessments (including risk)
• Demonstrable commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
• An awareness of the importance of sensitive situations i.e. confidentiality and pseudonyms Evidence of ability to review and improve existing practices where required.

Essential Qualifications:

• Professional qualification in Counselling
• Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent
• Registration with BACP
• Evidence of continuing professional development
