Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Wellness Activity Officer/exercise practitioner to deliver the exercise component of Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The role covers hospital and community venues, leading sessions, and assessing clients for participation.

Applicants should have GP referral accreditation, Level 2 teaching certificate, Level 4 Advanced Instructor registration, BACPR qualification, and Level 4 pulmonary rehab qualification.

Qualifications

• Recognised GP referral accreditation course or equivalent (NOC/NVQ Level 3).
• NOS/NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Exercise and Fitness (e.g. RSA/OCR Gym Instructor or Exercise to Music).
• Be on the register of Exercise Professionals as a Level 4 Advanced Instructor.
• BACPR qualification or equivalent experience.
• Level 4 pulmonary rehabilitation qualification (towards acceptable).

Responsibilities

• Delivery of a programme of exercise to Pulmonary and Cardiac Rehab services, including assessments and inductions.
• Promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle through education in one-to-one or group sessions.
• Lead the exercise component of rehabilitation services in hospital and community settings.
• Ensure safe exercising of clients in various venues.
• Collaborate with Nursing team on client suitability and progression.
