Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading is seeking a Cardiology Nurse Specialist to lead and deliver cardiac rehabilitation activities within the Cardiology Nurse Specialist Team. You will assess, educate and monitor patients, guiding exercise programmes and ensuring high-quality patient care in line with BACPR standards.

Qualifications

• Assess and plan exercise programmes for patients with cardiovascular disease.
• Monitor vital signs and interpret physiological measures.
• Collaborate within an MDT to optimise patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assess and analyse with risk stratification tests to enable safe exercise for patients with comorbidities and barriers.
• Take and monitor vital signs and interpret these measures to adjust treatment.
• Lead and deliver group cardiac rehabilitation sessions per BACPR guidelines.
• Respond to acute coronary events with rapid action and MDT referrals as needed.
• Educate patients, carers and others on exercise benefits and healthy lifestyles; deliver group education.
• Refer to other Cardiology team members and external agencies as appropriate while working within hospital policies.
• Manage a case load and evaluate exercise programmes for individuals.
