Job summary

Colchester Institute is seeking an Apprenticeship Industry Development Coach – Operational Firefighter Level 3 to support the progress and development of apprentices in the workplace. You will work with CFRS and the Colchester Institute OFF Lead to monitor progress, ensure apprenticeship requirements are met, and help apprentices complete on time.

The role is part-time (10 hours per week, 52 weeks) and field-based across Cambridgeshire, not based at a Colchester Institute campus; travel to

Qualifications

Experience in customer service with evidence of quality assurance.
Proven ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Active firefighter currently serving within Cambridge Fire & Rescue Service.

Responsibilities

Liaise with employer, apprentice and college staff to clarify learning requirements, knowledge, skills, and behaviours.
Carry out apprenticeship sign ups, admin tasks and provide IAG to managers and apprentices.
Coordinate with delivery teams to ensure professionalism and QA throughout the apprenticeship journey.
Conduct 10-week progress reviews with apprentices and employers against milestones and off-the-job training.
Support safeguarding, prevent, equality & diversity, health & safety, and British values during meetings.
Support gateway to completion and endpoint assessment with clear communication between delivery staff and CFRS.
Maintain apprentice information in Learning Hub, Smart Assessor and other VLEs.
