Job summary

Colchester Institute is seeking an Apprenticeship Development Coach (Maternity Cover) to support apprentices across Colchester Campus. You will guide sign-ups, track progress, and liaise with employers to keep programmes on track.

You'll deliver regular 8–12 week reviews in the workplace, provide development feedback, and ensure learning requirements are understood, including safeguarding, health and safety, and English and maths targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service with evidence of outstanding customer service and quality assurance.
• Experience in training, mentoring, or supporting team members or apprentices.
• Evidence of liaising with stakeholders internal and external to the organisation.
• Proficiency in digital systems (Microsoft Office, Smart Assessor, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Carry out apprenticeship sign-ups, completing administration tasks and providing IAG to employers and new apprentices.
• Liaise with Colchester Institute delivery teams to ensure high levels of professionalism and quality assurance are developed and maintained throughout the whole apprenticeship journey.
• Carry out regular reviews (8-12 weeks) with apprentices and employers, in the workplace, to monitor progress against key milestones and the planned learning as outlined in the apprenticeship training plan.
• Provide timely and developmental feedback to apprentices and learners to aid progress and achievement.
• During all aspects of apprenticeship meetings with both the apprentice and the employer, seek opportunities to raise awareness of personal development including Safeguarding, Prevent Agenda, Inclusion, Health & Safety, British Values, Maths & English, Careers Guidance (IAG), Wellbeing and Sustainability.
• Support the apprentices as they prepare for gateway and end point assessment ensuring clear lines of communication between all key delivery staff involved in the apprenticeship both with the employer and training provider.

We are seeking a Apprenticeship Development Coachto join our team. In this role you willplay a vital role in supporting apprentices to achieve timely and successful outcomes. You will provide tailored coaching and work closely with employers to ensure apprentices are fully supported to reach their full potential.

You will be responsible for completing apprenticeship sign-ups promptly, ensuring learners are enrolled before their learning begins, identifying and communicating any barriers to the delivery team, and conducting 12-weekly progress reviews at apprentices’ places of work. You will maintain accurate records of monthly learning evidence and monitor progress throughout the apprenticeship.

You will also identify risks to achievement and implement proactive action plans, working collaboratively with employers and curriculum teams to remove barriers to learning and ensure apprentices remain on track to successfully complete their programmes on time.

About the role:

• Liaise with the employer, apprentice, and college staff to ensure apprentices fully understand the learning requirements of their apprenticeship regarding knowledge, skills and behaviours, functional skills and end point assessment.

Essential Experience:

• Experience of a customer service role providing with evidence of outstanding customer service and quality assurance
• Experience of training, mentoring, or supporting team members or apprentices
• Demonstrate evidence of effectively liaising with key stakeholders internal and external to the organisation.
• Proficiency in digital systems (Microsoft Office, Smart Assessor, or similar).

Essential Qualifications:

• Education to level 3 or above and/or a professional qualification in apprenticeshipsor equivalent
• Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent
• Level 5 Teaching Qualification or willingness to completewithin 3 years of employment/3 years of the first available course.
• Coaching or Mentoring qualification at level 3 or above (or a willingness to achieve in post)
