Job summary

Royal Mail Group is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels in CHESSINGTON. The role is based on site in Chessington with a 30-hour week across 5 days in 7, including some weekends on a rotating schedule. Training, a uniform, and a red van are provided.

You will walk, drive a Royal Mail van daily, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. The salary is £16.24 per hour with paid overtime available, paid monthly.

Qualifications

• Must have a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Physically fit for long-distance walking and outdoor work.
• Reliable, customer-focused and able to work weekends on rota.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays on a rota basis.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
