Job summary

Royal Mail in Andover is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 6-month contract. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, build relationships with customers, and work outdoors in all weathers.

The role is 37 hours per week on a rotating shift including weekends, with a driving assessment, full training, a uniform, a red Royal Mail van, and ongoing support.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence required with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 37hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 12:00/19:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
