Job summary

Royal Mail in Abingdon is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term role. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, and build relationships with customers. The rota includes weekends with Sundays required at Abingdon Delivery Office.

The role is 37 hours per week, on a rotating schedule, with shifts 11:00–19:00 and a salary of £13.68 per hour plus overtime. Full training and a uniform are provided, with an excellent pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Must have a full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift 10kg+.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently in a busy environment.
• Strong organisation and resilience with a customer-focused approach.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)
Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 11:00/19:00*

About You
We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
