Job summary

Auto Skills UK is seeking an experienced Paint Sprayer / Paint Technician in St Albans to deliver high-quality refinishing on accident-damaged vehicles. This permanent role offers a straightforward Monday-to-Friday pattern with a choice of start times and a base salary in the £45,000–£55,000+ DOE range.

You will refine finishes, ensure colour accuracy, and work closely with the workshop team to maintain efficient repairs while complying with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Paint Sprayer/Technician in a professional bodyshop or accident repair environment.
• Qualification in Vehicle Refinishing (NVQ/IMI/City & Guilds/ATA or equivalent) and commitment to development.
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle paint systems, colour matching and refinishing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle surfaces for refinishing, including sanding, filling, masking and priming.
• Mix and apply paint using appropriate spray equipment and techniques.
• Carry out colour matching, blending and paint application to a high-quality finish.
• Inspect completed paintwork and rectify imperfections when required.
• Maintain good housekeeping and health and safety practices in the workshop.

PAINT SPRAYER / PAINT TECHNICIAN

Location: St Albans

Basic Salary: £45,000 - £55,000+ DOE

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm or 8:00am - 6:00pm

THE ROLE

As a Paint Sprayer / Paint Technician, you'll be responsible for preparing and refinishing accident-damaged vehicles, ensuring all paintwork is completed efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing vehicle surfaces for refinishing, including sanding, filling, masking, and priming.
• Mixing and applying paint using appropriate spray equipment and refinishing techniques.
• Carrying out colour matching, blending, and paint application to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Inspecting completed paintwork and rectifying imperfections where required.
• Working closely with Panel Beaters and other Bodyshop technicians to maintain an efficient repair process.
• Completing allocated repairs within agreed timescales while maintaining excellent workmanship.
• Following relevant health and safety procedures when handling paints, solvents, and workshop equipment.
• Maintaining spray equipment, tools, and the working area in a clean and professional condition.

ABOUT YOU

This opportunity would suit an experienced Paint Sprayer / Paint Technician / Paint Refinisher / Vehicle Painter who takes pride in producing high-quality finishes.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Paint Sprayer or Paint Technician within a professional Bodyshop or accident repair environment.
• Recognised qualification in Vehicle Refinishing (NVQ / IMI / City & Guilds / ATA or equivalent), with a commitment to continuous professional development.
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle paint systems, colour matching, blending, and refinishing techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
• The ability to work efficiently while maintaining consistently high standards.
• Strong organisation and the ability to work effectively as part of a skilled workshop team.
• A professional approach to health and safety when working with paint products and workshop equipment.
• A full UK driving licence.
