Job summary

Auto Skills UK in Croydon is seeking a skilled Paint Sprayer / Paint Technician to join a professional Bodyshop environment. You’ll refinishing accident-damaged vehicles to a high standard, with OTE £50,000+ and a basic salary £40,000-£45,000+ DOE.

Working Monday to Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm, plus a rota of 2 Saturdays per month. This permanent role offers strong earning potential and clear career progression within a structured shop setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as Paint Sprayer/Technician in a professional bodyshop.
• Qualification in Vehicle Refinishing (NVQ/IMI/City & Guilds/ATA or equivalent).
• Knowledge of modern vehicle paints, colour matching and refinishing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle surfaces for refinishing (sanding, filling, masking, priming).
• Mix and apply paints with appropriate spray equipment.
• Colour match, blend and refinishing to a high-quality finish.
• Inspect finished paintwork and rectify defects.
• Collaborate with bodyshop team to maintain workflow.
• Complete repairs within agreed timescales with quality.
• Follow health and safety procedures for paints and solvents.
• Maintain spray equipment and workspace.

THE ROLE

As a Paint Sprayer / Paint Technician, you'll be responsible for preparing and refinishing accident-damaged vehicles, ensuring all paintwork is completed efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing vehicle surfaces for refinishing, including sanding, filling, masking and priming.
• Mixing and applying paint using appropriate spray equipment and techniques.
• Carrying out colour matching, blending and refinishing work to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Inspecting completed paintwork and rectifying imperfections where required.
• Working closely with Panel Beaters and other Bodyshop technicians to maintain an efficient repair process.
• Completing allocated repairs within agreed timescales while maintaining excellent workmanship.
• Following relevant health and safety procedures when handling paints, solvents and workshop equipment.
• Maintaining spray equipment, tools and the working area in a clean and professional condition.

ABOUT YOU

This opportunity would suit an experienced Paint Sprayer / Paint Technician / Paint Refinisher / Vehicle Painter who takes pride in producing high-quality finishes.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Paint Sprayer or Paint Technician within a professional Bodyshop or accident repair environment.
• Recognised qualification in Vehicle Refinishing (NVQ / IMI / City & Guilds / ATA or equivalent), with a commitment to continuous professional development.
• Strong knowledge of modern vehicle paint systems, colour matching, blending and refinishing techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
• The ability to work efficiently while maintaining consistently high standards.
• Strong organisation and the ability to work effectively as part of a skilled workshop team.
• A full UK driving licence.
