Job summary

Moderna is seeking an onsite Automation Engineer to lead packaging automation and DS manufacturing support at our Harwell facility. You will troubleshoot DeltaV, Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and networks while driving continuous improvement across labeling and packaging operations.

You will manage full project lifecycles, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with OEMs and partners to deliver robust automation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of automation engineering experience supporting manufacturing equipment in regulated environments.
• Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing or packaging equipment and working in GMP/GxP environments.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Drive packaging automation and manufacturing performance across drug product packaging and DS manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, DeltaV, HMIs, instrumentation, networks, and motion systems to maintain reliable operations.
• Support introduction and continuous improvement of labeling and secondary packaging equipment.
• Lead lifecycle of automation projects from design through FAT/SAT, commissioning, validation and handover.
• Maintain compliant automation systems with change control, deviations, CAPAs, and data integrity considerations.
• Collaborate with OEMs and system integrators on design, troubleshooting and upgrades.
