Job summary

Sainsbury's in Milton Keynes is seeking a Lead Nightshift Manager to oversee overnight store operations and manage a team of managers across a 4-night schedule with a £4,500 premium. You’ll drive replenishment, health and safety, and performance through coaching and data-driven decisions.

You’ll partner with the store leadership team to plan key trading events, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and maintain a safe, inclusive environment for colleagues during out-of-hours trading.

Qualifications

• Experience leading large teams in fast-paced, customer-focused environments.
• Proven track record delivering exceptional customer experiences across complex operations.
• Proven success delivering and improving KPIs—sales, stock availability and customer satisfaction.
• Experience managing sensitive people matters (performance, absence, formal employee relations).
• Operational leadership in retail, hospitality, or food service with ownership of department performance.
• Evidence of leading change and embedding new ways of working.
• Desirable: experience working night shifts in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team of managers overnight, delivering replenishment for customers the next morning.
• Plan for upcoming key trading activities with the store leadership team.
• People management: pay, scheduling, training, and employee relations.
• Hold accountability for overnight store operations, coaching for high standards and efficiency.
• Ensure health and safety of colleagues on shift.
