Job summary

Single Homeless Project in Islington is seeking a Night Concierge on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be the night-time point of contact, help maintain safety, manage access to buildings and respond to emergencies, reporting concerns to the out-of-hours team.

You will work the night shift from 22:00 to 08:15, with a focus on creating a safe, welcoming environment for residents, while following SHP policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• A mature and non-judgemental attitude to working with a client group that may present challenging behaviour.
• A basic understanding of the often complex issues likely to be presented by the vulnerable people who use SHP services.
• The confidence to challenge appropriately, and the ability to use initiative and make reasoned and quick decisions within SHP’s policy and procedural framework.
• An understanding of Health and Safety at work and the likely issues to occur in a residential building.
• Good customer care skills, honesty, punctuality, integrity and ability to work alone without direct supervision.
• An ability to be self-servicing in the use of the computer to create notes and logs and to send and receive emails.

Responsibilities

• Be the night-time point of contact, managing access to buildings and responding to emergencies.
• Carry out essential safety checks and report concerns to the out-of-hours team.
• Provide a calm, reassuring presence and support for residents throughout the shift.
• Work with temporary staff under direction when needed and ensure tasks are completed smoothly.
• Operate within SHP’s policies to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
