Job summary

Resicare Alliance Ltd is seeking a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to provide overnight care and safeguarding for children and young people in a residential home. You will be the constant, reassuring presence through the night, supporting bedtime and morning routines as needed.

The role involves welfare checks, safeguarding, incident reporting, and collaboration with families and professionals to maintain safe environments and consistent care practices throughout night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Remaining awake and alert throughout your shift
• Carrying out regular welfare checks in line with care plans and risk assessments
• Supporting children who wake during the night, offering reassurance and assistance
• Maintaining a calm, safe, and settled night-time environment
• Supporting bedtime and morning routines where required
• Monitoring children identified as vulnerable overnight
• Responding immediately to safeguarding concerns or incidents
• Managing missing-from-home incidents in line with procedures
• Maintaining building security and monitoring access to the home
• Carrying out fire safety checks and emergency procedures
• Responding appropriately to medical or emotional crises
• Following care plans, behaviour strategies, and risk assessments
• Maintaining professional boundaries at all times
• Demonstrating calm, confident decision-making when lone working
• Upholding safeguarding standards throughout every shift
• Completing detailed night reports and incident recordings
• Maintaining accurate monitoring logs
• Providing clear handovers, written and verbal, to day staff
• Escalating concerns promptly to on-call management
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent care practices
• Communicating effectively and sharing relevant information
• Taking direction from team leaders and managers while using initiative appropriately
• Participating in supervision, training, and team meetings
• Engaging respectfully with families, social workers, education staff, and other professionals
• Supporting children to maintain important relationships where appropriate
