Job summary

Bedspace seeks a dedicated support worker in Manchester to help young people and adults gain independence. You will manage a caseload, liaise with professionals, and write detailed reports assessing living skills.

The role requires travel across Greater Manchester, a full driving licence, safeguarding knowledge, and NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care. You will support education, employment access, and wellbeing while adhering to safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting (not caring) for people with support needs, families or young people to gain independence.
• Travel is essential so must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business use.
• Must be prepared to travel in the Greater Manchester region.
• Thorough knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
• Hold or be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification.
• Computer literate - Good understanding of Microsoft 365.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Working across the Manchester area, managing a caseload of service users, helping to build independent living skills.
• Liaising with Social Workers, Healthcare practitioners, DWP, and the Police.
• Writing detailed reports assessing a service user's independent living skills.
• Conducting weekly inspections of service user's properties.
• Support with accessing and maintaining education/employment.
• Promoting physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and de-escalating challenging situations.
• Signposting to appropriate services including mental health, drug rehabilitation, counselling and education.
