Job summary

Bedspace is seeking a dedicated Care Worker to join our team in the Manchester area, supporting young people aged 16-18 and vulnerable adults within our residential services.

You will travel across Greater Manchester, driving your own vehicle, and collaborate with Social Workers, healthcare professionals, and education/employment partners to promote independence and wellbeing. DBS checks and robust safeguarding are part of our recruitment process.

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
  • NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification or equivalent will be considered.
  • Computer literate with good understanding of Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of service users, focusing on independence and living skills.
  • Liaise with Social Workers, Healthcare practitioners, DWP, and Police as needed.
  • Write detailed reports assessing a service user's independent living skills.

Job description

In the Manchester area within the North West, our services extend to care leavers, family placements, separated children, as well as adults and NHS referrals. The caseload within our team will mainly consist of working with young people from 16-18. Our clients present a spectrum of needs, including mental health challenges and some have been in the care system throughout their lives.

We are committed to providing comprehensive support, encompassing independent living skills development, assistance in accessing education or employment opportunities, medication reminders, support with benefits applications, accompanying individuals to appointments, active participation in meetings, and offering crucial emotional support.

Our team is dedicated to fostering the wellbeing and progression of individuals across various age groups and needs. The right candidate will predominantly be based in the Manchester area but will be willing to travel within the Greater Manchester region.

Due to the areas this role covers, a car driver with a vehicle is essential .

About you

The ideal candidate will be passionate about this sector, looking to make a difference with our service users and will be looking for a challenging but rewarding role.

  • Previous experience supporting (not caring) for people with support needs, families or young people to gain independence.
  • Travel is essential so must hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle insured for business use.
  • Must be prepared to travel in the North West region.
  • Thorough knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children
  • Hold or be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification.
  • Computer literate - Good understanding of Microsoft 365
  • Good interpersonal skills
Key Duties:
  • Working across the Warrington area within Manchester area, managing a caseload of Service Users, helping to build independent living skills
  • Liaising with relevant professionals such as Social Workers, Healthcare practitioners, DWP, and the Police
  • Writing detailed reports which assess a service user's independent living skills
  • Completely weekly inspections of Service User's properties
  • Support with accessing and maintaining education/employment
  • Promote physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, de-escalating challenging situations when they arise
  • Signposting to appropriate services as required, including mental health, drug rehabilitation services, counselling and education
