GSL Education is seeking an Outreach Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support and transport a student within the local community. This role helps the student build confidence, independence and life skills through community-based activities.

You will liaise with schools, parents and professionals, monitor progress, and maintain a safe, inclusive environment while safeguarding the student throughout engagements.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, care or support settings.
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs (desirable).
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Confidence and competence in driving, as transporting the student forms a key part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student within the community.
  • Safely transport the student to and from activities, appointments and educational provisions.
  • Identify and support engagement in positive and enriching activities.
  • Build a trusting relationship that promotes confidence, self-esteem and independence.
  • Support the student in developing social skills, routines and community engagement.
  • Work with students who may have SEN/SEMH, Autism, ADHD or challenging behaviour.
  • Promote resilience, independence and life skills.
  • Liaise with schools, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Monitor, record and report on progress and wellbeing.

Outreach Learning Support Assistant

Location: Stansted

Pay: £15.43 - £17.08 per hour

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Outreach Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a student within the local community. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping a young person develop confidence, independence and essential life skills through meaningful engagement in community-based activities.

The Role

As an Outreach Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student within the community.
  • Safely transport the student to and from activities, appointments and educational provisions.
  • Use your initiative to identify and support engagement in positive and enriching activities.
  • Build a strong, trusting relationship that promotes confidence, self-esteem and independence.
  • Support the student in developing social skills, positive routines and community engagement.
  • Work with students who may present with a range of additional needs, including SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support the development of emotional regulation strategies.
  • Liaise effectively with schools, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Monitor, record and report on progress, engagement and wellbeing.
  • Promote resilience, independence and life skills.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive and inclusive environment at all times.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality and a commitment to safeguarding.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people within education, youth work, care or support settings.
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD or behavioural needs (desirable).
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Confidence and competence in driving, as transporting the student forms a key part of the role.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people who may have experienced barriers to education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with students and families.
  • Patience, empathy and a calm, solution-focused approach.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to maintain clear boundaries.
  • A flexible, proactive and resilient attitude.
