Job summary

Landmarc Support Services is recruiting a Training Area Operative to join our dedicated team supporting the UK Defence Training Estate. This role keeps firing ranges safe and ready for training, with extensive outdoor work and full training provided.

You will perform maintenance, plant operation, and documentation, enabling efficient and safe military exercises. The position offers career progression and a benefits package including pension and holidays.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of landscape or grounds maintenance.
• Basic IT skills with confidence using a tablet.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced team environment.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety protocols and safe systems of work.
• Previous experience in construction, grounds maintenance or similar (desirable).
• Must hold a full valid UK manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and preparation of firing ranges for safe military training.
• Carrying out preventative, planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Construction, repair and deployment of targets.
• Grounds maintenance including fencing, mowing and strimming.
• Supporting forestry tasks such as removal of fallen trees (training provided).
• Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training provided).
• Driving and operating fleet vehicles.
• Using warning systems including training control offices, flags and lights.
• Ensuring facilities adhere to strict safety protocols and safe systems of work.
• Completing documentation using IT systems and paper-based records.
