Job summary

Landmarc Solutions is seeking a Training Area Operative to support the UK Defence Training Estate. The role involves outdoor work to maintain safe, sustainable training environments for the Armed Forces.

You will receive full training, with strong career progression and a benefits package. The position offers permanent, full-time employment and a 37-hour week with weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Essential knowledge of landscape or grounds maintenance.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Basic IT skills with confidence using tablets or similar devices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and prepare firing ranges for safe military training.
• Carry out preventative, planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
• Construct, repair and deploy targets as needed.
• Carrying out grounds maintenance including fencing, mowing and strimming.
• Assist forestry tasks such as removal of fallen trees (training provided).
• Operate plant and equipment with training provided.
• Drive and operate fleet vehicles as required.
• Follow safety protocols and safe systems of work; complete records in IT/paper form.

Landmarc Support Services is recruiting a Training Area Operative to join our dedicated team supporting the UK Defence Training Estate. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a safe, efficient and sustainable environment for our Armed Forces to train.

Salary: £27,877.57Annual Allowance:£1,127.50 for working weekendsHours:37 hours per weekShifts run between: Mon- Sun, 07:30 – 23:59Contract: Permanent

What You’ll Do

• Maintenance and preparation of firing ranges for safe military training
• Carrying out preventative, planned and reactive maintenance tasks
• Construction, repair and deployment of targets
• Grounds maintenance including fencing, mowing and strimming
• Supporting forestry tasks such as removal of fallen trees (training provided)
• Operation and maintenance of plant and equipment (training provided)
• Driving and operating fleet vehicles
• Using warning systems including training control offices, flags and lights
• Ensuring facilities adhere to strict safety protocols and safe systems of work
• Completing documentation using IT systems and paper‑based records

What We’re Looking For

• Essential Knowledge of landscape or grounds maintenance
• Excellent communication skills
• Basic IT skills with confidence using a tablet
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, fast‑paced team environment
• Good understanding of Health & Safety protocols and safe systems of work
• Previous experience in construction, grounds maintenance or similar (desirable)
• Must hold a full valid UK manual driving licence
