Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown in Bristol is seeking a Database Engineer to support, maintain and improve our enterprise database platforms, with a primary focus on Oracle databases. You will also work with MariaDB, MS SQL Server and Sybase ASE to ensure secure, resilient and high-performing services.

As part of a specialist database team, you will contribute to automation, cloud adoption and continuous improvement, participate in on-call rotations, and create runbooks and documentation to support

Qualifications

• Experience administering Oracle databases in production environments.
• Ability to perform RMAN backup and restore operations.
• Experience with Linux server environments.
• Exposure to cloud adoption and automation initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve HL's enterprise database platforms with Oracle focus.
• Monitor performance and capacity to meet business requirements.
• Resolve incidents and handle service requests following SLAs.
• Perform routine administration, patching and housekeeping.
• Support backup, recovery and DR processes.
• Contribute to automation and continuous improvement.
• Participate in on-call rotation and major incident response.
